<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - A 24-person City of Columbia Public Works snowplow crew is on duty Monday, Dec. 1, as winter weather moves into the area. Conditions will be monitored throughout the day and additional resources may be added as needed.<br /><br />Snowplow drivers will focus on priority routes. First priority roads include major residential and arterial streets used for public safety needs. Second priority roads include heavily traveled collector and residential streets, City and school bus routes and streets leading to schools, hospitals and other key locations.<br /><br />Forecasts indicate that accumulations greater than 2 inches are possible. If this occurs, drivers should move vehicles off all first and second priority snow routes. These routes can be identified by the red, white and blue signs that say "no parking when snow is over 2 inches." Residents can also use the Street and Snow Route Priority Viewer at 
 <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://CoMoSnow.com">CoMoSnow.com</a> to identify first and second priority roads.<br /><br />Keeping vehicles off priority routes helps plow drivers clear streets more efficiently. A text alert will be sent once accumulations reach 2 inches or more. Residents can sign up for these alerts, which announce when to move vehicles off priority routes and when parking can resume, by visiting <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://Alerts.CoMo.gov">Alerts.CoMo.gov</a>.<br /><br />Residents with Monday trash pickup are asked to place roll carts off the street and near the edge of the sidewalk when possible. This provides additional space for plow drivers to clear streets from curb to curb. To help ensure that trash collection and snow removal can take place efficiently, please follow the guidelines on roll cart placement found at <a style="white-space:nowrap" href="https://www.como.gov/city-source/december-2024/roll-cart-placement-winter-weath
 er/">CoMo.gov/city-source/december-2024/roll-cart-placement-winter-weather</a>.<br /><br />Drivers are encouraged to use safe winter weather driving techniques if travel is necessary. Reduce speed, allow extra time for stopping and approach intersections slowly to avoid skidding. As precipitation begins, be aware that road conditions can change quickly, especially on bridges and elevated surfaces.</div>
