(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia’s Department of Housing & Neighborhood Services will host a drop-in style public meeting to receive feedback on the City’s Rental Unit Conservation Law from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), 1701 W. Ash Street.

The meeting will be held to get community feedback on the City’s activities related to inspections for residential rental units. Currently, the City inspects most rental units every five years. There are currently more than 28,000 units that comply with City code requirements. City Council members have indicated interest in increasing the frequency of inspections for rental properties.

The public meeting will also include information about the work of Neighborhood Services to enforce other codes, including trash and debris, tall grass and weeds, and nuisance vehicles.

The pub
lic may also provide feedback on the City’s rental inspection program via a survey found at BeHeard.CoMo.gov. The online survey will be available through Feb. 20. The BeHeard site also includes additional information about the City’s inspection program and options for changes.
