(COLUMBIA, MO) - In October, the City of Columbia launched CoMo to Zero, an initiative that envisions a future free from roadway deaths or serious injuries. As part of this effort, the City is updating its Vision Zero Action Plan using data analysis and public input to create safer streets for everyone who travels in Columbia.

The public survey portion will close at the end of next week. Community members are encouraged to visit the CoMo to Zero Action Plan BeHeardCoMo page to take the survey and view the interactive comment map before Friday, Feb. 13, to:

Take a brief survey about how they travel through Columbia and where they experience safety concerns.

Use the interactive map to mark locations where they feel unsafe walking, biking, driving or using a mobility device.

The updated plan will align with the Safe System Approach, focusing on safer roadway design, safer speeds, safer vehicles, safer people and improved post-crash care. The project will result in a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan consistent with the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program and will use data analysis and community input to identify projects, policies and low-cost improvements that improve safety across Columbia.

Residents will also have an opportunity to learn more and provide input in person at a public meeting for the CoMo to Zero Action Plan update. The meeting will take place from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Activity & Recreation Center (ARC), 1701 W. Ash St. This event will have no formal presentation and will allow attendees to visit at any time during the two-hour window to review information, speak with staff and share feedback.

Public input from the survey, comment map and public
meeting will help shape strategies to make Columbia's streets safer for all road users.
