<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Fire Department responds to vehicle fire, Feb. 18</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display: inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 10:29 a.m., a box alarm of Columbia Fire Department (CFD) companies was dispatched to a vehicle fire in a parking garage located in the 10 block of Hospital Drive. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Firefighters arrived within three minutes to locate a vehicle with flames showing on the second floor of the parking structure. With assistance from responding University of Missouri Police and security staff members, the parking structure was secured to limit access and control traffic. By limiting access, firefighters were able to safely access the vehicle. The first company established a water supply from the nearby hydrant and extended a specially designed hose bundle that allowed them to extend their hoselines from the floor below to the car on fire. With assistance from additional firefighters arriving on scene, they successfully contained the fire to the vehicle of origin. CFD prevented nearby vehicles from becoming involved and eliminated the potential for damage to the structure. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">CFD greatly appreciates MU Health Care Security and the MU Police Department for their assistance in this incident.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A total of five CFD companies, two Battalion Chiefs and a Safety Officer, comprising 18 personnel, responded to this incident. There were no reported injuries. </span></p></div>
