<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia has named Christopher Ave as the first director of the City’s recently formed Communications department. Ave will step into the role June 22.<br /><br />"Christopher’s extensive experience in journalism and strategic communications makes him an outstanding addition to our team," said Columbia City Manager De’Carlon Seewood. "We are excited to welcome him to the City and look forward to his leadership in strengthening communication and engagement with our community."<br /><br />Ave has more than 30 years of experience working in journalism and strategic communications. He currently works as the director of media relations and public affairs at the University of Missouri.<br /><br />His previous roles include director of communications with the St. Louis County Department of Public Health and political and national editor with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. His ed
 ucation includes a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.<br /><br />"I am thrilled at the opportunity to lead communications and engagement efforts for the world-class city of Columbia," Ave said.</div>
