(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia has launched a new website, OneForSafety.org, to provide residents with factual information about Proposition 1, which will appear on the Aug. 4, 2026, ballot.

Proposition 1 asks voters whether to approve a dedicated 1% sales and use tax for public safety. If approved, the tax would be used exclusively for the operations and capital improvements of the Columbia Police and Columbia Fire departments.

"Public safety is one of the most important services the City provides, and residents deserve clear information about any proposal that could affect those services," said City Manager De'Carlon Seewood. "This website is a resource for voters to learn more about Proposition 1 and make an informed decision on Aug. 4."

The website explains how the proposed tax would work
