(COLUMBIA, MO) -
On Thursday, Aug. 6 at 8:37 a.m., Columbia Fire Department (CFD) companies were dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 2000 block of West Ash Street.

CFD arrived within three minutes to find smoke showing from a two-story commercial structure with a basement. Firefighters immediately entered the structure to locate the source of the smoke and search for occupants.

Firefighters determined that the smoke was emanating from an electrical motor in an HVAC and minimized the damage to the appliance of origin.

There were no reported injuries. The fire is believed to have been caused by a power loss as a result of the ongoing storm.

A total of seven fire companies, two chief officers and one safety captain with 25 personnel responded to this incident.
