<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia is currently accepting applications for its Fall 2026 Civic Academy. <br /><br />The City’s Civic Academy is a free, eight-session interactive program that provides insight to local government services and operations and offers opportunities for civic engagement. <br /><br />The sessions are held each Thursday from 6-9 p.m. from Oct. 1 through Nov. 19. Dinner is provided at each session.<br /><br />Over the course of Civic Academy, participants will learn about their local government and how its operations impact their daily lives. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from City leadership, tour City facilities and learn about City services through interactive activities and demonstrations. The final week of the program will highlight Boone County government operations and elections. <br /><br />"Our Civic Academy has become a cornerstone program for community engag
 ement and education," said City Manager De’Carlon Seewood. "As we begin this sixth cohort, we remain committed to helping residents gain insight into City services and discover ways to get involved. This eight-week program is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to better understand their local government ."<br /><br />Civic Academy is open to Columbia residents 18 years or older. The program is free, and enrollment is limited to 25 participants. <br /><br />Applications will be accepted until full and participants will be selected on a first come, first served basis. <br /><br />Visit CoMo.gov/civic-academy/ to view the schedule and apply. <br /><br />For questions about the program or to request a paper application please contact Assistant to the City Manager Stacey Weidemann at 573.874.6338 or stacey.weidemann@como.gov</div>
