<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Fire Department responds to residential structure fire, Sept. 27</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Sunday, Sept. 27 at 6:43 a.m., Columbia Fire Department (CFD) companies were dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 2500 block of Oakland Gravel Road.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">CFD arrived within three minutes to find a single-story home on a walkout basement with an active fire in the rear of the structure. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and limited damage to the area of origin. Interior searches were conducted and confirmed there had been no fire extension. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">There were no reported injuries.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A total of five fire companies, two chief officers, one safety captain and one fire marshal with 19 personnel were dispatched to this incident.<br /></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br /></span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Columbia Fire Marshals Battalion has conducted an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire and determined the fire to be caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.</span></p></div>
