The public hearing for the ordinance to approve the proposed SE Regional Park Master Plan is tentatively scheduled for the May 3, 2010 Council Meeting. The Council Meeting begins at 7:00pm, in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.

The proposed plan was presented to the City Council in a report at the February 1, 2010 Council Meeting. At that meeting the City Council approved a motion to refer the master plan to the Planning & Zoning and Parks & Recreation Commissions.

Both commissions have reviewed the plan, held public hearings, and made their recommendations. Both commissions have recommended adopting the plan with one revision, which was to expand the natural area buffer of Gans Creek to include additional acreage (approx. 9 acres) in the area adjacent to the northeast corner of Gans Creek Wild Area of Rock Bridge State Park. The proposed master plan has been revised to implement this recommendation.

The public hearing on May 3 in front of the City Council could be the public's last opportunity to voice their support of or request changes to the proposed SE regional park master plan.
