Columbia Parks and Recreation's Silver & Gold group is offering a few neat
activities on Tuesdays this month. Come on over to the Armory Sports
Center (701 E. Ash) to take part in what we have for you.
For further information about the activities listed below, contact Laura at
LKTHAL at gocolumbiamo.com or call 817-5077.
Silver & Gold Group April 2015 Calendar
Tuesday, April 7: Stay Fit!
This fitness class will combine elements of weightlifting, aerobics,
kickboxing, flexibility, and balance exercises. No need to bring any
equipment, just wear comfortable clothes and come prepared to get a great
workout!
Tuesday, April 14: Scrapbooking Memories
Come join us as we continue to work on our memory books! If you joined us
in March or you’re a newcomer, you are welcome to join in as we preserve
our family histories to share with younger generations by displaying and
adding captions to cherished family photographs. Scrapbooking supplies will
be provided, just be sure to bring your pictures!
Tuesday, April 21: Stephens Lake Park
As one of Columbia's largest destination parks, Stephens Lake Park has
plenty of walking paths and natural scenery to enjoy this Spring afternoon.
Water and healthy snacks will be provided, just be sure to dress for the
weather and wear comfortable shoes! We will depart from the Armory at 2:15
PM, but feel free to meet us at the park near Reichmann Pavilion if you’d
like to join us later.
Tuesday, April 28: Trip to Fulton, MO
Cost: $5
Departing: 10:30 AM from St. Paul Church Parking Lot (corner of N. 5th St.
& Park Ave.)
Fulton’s Westminster College is famous for hosting Winston Churchill’s 1946
“Iron Curtain” speech leading into the Cold War, and now houses the
National Churchill Museum, our first stop of the day. This museum, housed
inside an historical church which originally stood in London, will give us
a glimpse into a turbulent time in American history and an important public
figure. After visiting the museum, we will head to downtown Fulton to
explore the Brick District’s antique shops, restaurants, and specialty
shops on our own, so bring extra spending money! Bus will depart Fulton at
3:00 PM and make a quick stop at Ozarkland General Store in Kingdom City
for homemade fudge and candy, and other unique gifts. Shuttle will return
to the Armory at approximately 4:00 PM.
