ATTENTION ARTS ORGANIZATIONS...
Did you submit a funding application to the Office of Cultural
Affairs?...
If so, consider attending the upcoming meeting of the Commission on
Cultural Affairs, Monday, June 16, 5:00 p.m., in the mezzanine
conference room of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. Commissioners will be
considering the applications and recommending funding. The meeting is
open to the public and is an excellent opportunity to become familiar
with the process. As an applicant, you are encouraged to attend so you
will know first-hand what is said about your application as well as what
recommendations are made. While the minutes of the meeting will be
available after the fact, sitting in on the meeting will prove to be
much more informative as you implement your project(s) and as you
formulate your ideas for future proposals.
The meeting is a long one...it will start at 5:00 and may last until
10:00 p.m. You may come and go as you wish, though we recommend you
bring a drink, snack or carry-out for dinner if you plan to stay long.
The Commission will take few breaks and will work though the dinner
hour. Public comment does not occur at the meeting - you will be an
observer only if you attend. No organization is allowed to "testify" or
lobby out of fairness to all applicants. The Commission's July meeting
will include an opportunity for your organization to make public comment
(contact the OCA for date, time and place).
Input on the Arts Funding Process...
If you submitted a funding application, you have received a
survey...please complete and send it in as soon as possible while the
process is still fresh in your mind. Your input is important to us as
it helps us to assess the clarity of the form and the overall ease of
the process. If you need another copy of the survey, just contact
us.______________________________
