Office of Cultural Affairs UPDATES...
Arts Management Workshop
It's not to late to join us for "The Accidental Arts Administrator" workshop, Thurs., Sept. 9, 5:30 p.m. at the Convention and Visitors Bureau. The session will be presented by the Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts and will cover board-related issues, fund raising, marketing and planning. Staff and volunteers of arts organizations are encouraged to attend. Call 573-874-6386 to register or e-mail oca at GoColumbiaMo.com.
Small Request Funding
Next month marks the beginning of the first quarter of our fiscal year. This means that the Commission on Cultural Affairs will be evaluating Small Request applications received by September 10th for events and activities occurring in October, November and December. Requests may be for up to $500 and must follow the below-listed guidelines. Contact us for an application form and complete guidelines, 573-874-6386, oca at GoColumbiaMo.com, or use the online form at www.GoColumbiaMo.com (Go Word: GoArts).
*Funding is limited to one request per project. If a project is funded in the regular funding cycle it is not eligible for the Small Request category. Multiple projects from the same agency are allowed.
*Funds are available to agencies with annual budgets of no more than $500,000 and only to arts agencies. Collaborations are allowed, but only with an arts agency with 501-C-3 status as the lead applicant.
*OCA does not fund capital outlay or perishable items.
Annual Arts Organization Funding
By the end of October, City Council will authorize contracts with the local arts organizations that will receive funding through the OCA's annual process. The contracts will then have to be processed by the City Clerk and the City Manager will have to sign them. The OCA will receive the contracts after that and will send them out immediately; hopefully by October 31st. Organizations will need to return signed contracts and any other supporting materials that are requested before payments can be made. Questions? Call 573-874-6386 or e-mail oca at GoColumbiaMo.com.
