Office of Cultural Affairs INFO...
Citys Visioning Process
You have probably heard by now that the city is undertaking a visioning
process to plan for the future of Columbia. Enclosed please find
information about the process as well as a listing of upcoming events at
which you can get more information. We want to be certain that the arts
are represented in the process and that maintaining and supporting an
active and vital arts community is part of the vision of Columbias
future so please spread the word at your board meetings, in your
newsletters and with your members and supporters. For more information:

Annual Arts Organization Funding
In mid October, we expect that City Council will authorize contracts
with the 18 local arts agencies that will receive city arts funding
through the OCAs annual process. We will be sending the contracts by
the end of October, along with instructions for completing narrative and
budget revisions. Organizations must return signed contracts and
required revisions before an initial payment can be made.
Small Request Funding
The next deadline for Small Request funding is Dec. 11...applications
will be for the second quarter of funding, Jan.-March. Requests may be
for up to $500 and must follow the below-listed guidelines (contact the
OCA for a complete listing). Proposed projects should be innovative,
unique and represent a one-time opportunity for the community. Call
573-874-6386 for an application and guidelines, or use the on-line form
at www.GoColumbiaMo.com (on the Cultural Affairs page).
* Funding is limited to one request per project. Multiple projects
from the same agency are allowed.
* Funds are available to agencies with total annual budgets of no
more than $500,000 and only to arts agencies. Collaborations are
allowed, but only with an arts organization holding a 501c3 status as
the lead agency.
* OCA does not fund capital outlay or perishable items.
Columbia Festival of the Arts Thanks
Sincere thanks to the area arts organizations that participated in the
15th annual Columbia Festival of the Arts last month, either by
performing on stage or sponsoring a display...you helped us make it a
great event for the community!
Were moving*!
We are tentatively scheduled to move our offices into the citys
newly renovated Gentry Building, located on the southwest corner of
Seventh and Broadway Streets, on Wednesday, November 8. We will be
closed for at least a day to accommodate the move of phones and
computers; our phone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses will not
change. We will be in touch as we know more details and final date(s)*we
are planning an arts open house after the November 13 Commission
meeting so please mark your calendar so you can join us and see our new
city home.
