The Commission on Cultural Affairs will not hold a regular meeting in
December...
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Commission will not take place
on December 14. Regular monthly meetings of the Commission will resume
on January 11, 4:15 p.m. in the mezzanine conference room of the Daniel
Boone Building, 701 E. Broadway; Commission meetings are always open to

Annual City Arts Funding Workshop...
Applications for the city’s fiscal year ‘11 arts funding will be
available beginning January 25. Stop by to pick up the application and
meet informally with OCA staff anytime 12:30-5:30 p.m. that day, at the
Gentry Building, 1 S. Seventh Street. If you can’t make it on the
25th, contact the OCA to receive the application form and discuss the
process; e-mail oca at GoColumbiaMo.com or call 573-874-6386. New
applicants or those that received zero-funding in past years are
strongly encouraged to attend the session.

Traffic Box Art…
Artists residing in mid-Missouri are invited to apply for a public art
project to create art on a traffic signal box (TSB) in The District.
Once addressed by artists, the painted TSBs have proven to be resistant
to graffiti and vandalism and contribute significantly to the vitality
and attractiveness of the downtown streetscape (see the two previously
completed Traffic Box Art projects at
www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Arts/CompletedTrafficSignalBoxes.php ). The
project budget includes a $1,500 honorarium to the artist plus a
materials fee. Postmark deadline for applications is February 5. Go to
www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Arts/ and select the “artist opportunity”
link at the top of the page to view project guidelines and access the
design template.
