OFFICE of CULTURAL AFFAIRS UPDATES...
CREATIVE COLUMBIA...In 1993, Columbia’s first ever cultural plan was
developed after extensive community consultation. Since then, periodic
updates have been generated to keep the plan current. In 2010, one such
revision is taking place. Make your opinions and suggestions known by
completing a short online survey at www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Arts (look for
the “public input” link at the top of the page). If you prefer to
complete a paper copy of the survey, contact the city’s Office of
Cultural Affairs to have one sent to you: 573-874-6386 or
oca at GoColumbiaMo.com.
ANNUAL ARTS FUNDING PROCESS...hard copies of the application form for
arts education and presentation projects are available at the OCA. Our
online form can be found at: www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Arts (look for the
“arts agency” link at the top of the page). If you missed our
January 25 workshop about the process, contact us to discuss the new
form.
TRAFFIC BOX ART...Artists residing in central Missouri are eligible to
submit a design for the OCA’s new Traffic Box Art program; $1,500
honorarium, plus a materials fee. Postmark deadline is February 5. See
the prospectus at www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Arts/ for the prospectus (look
for the “artist opportunity” link at the top of the page).
MISSOURI ARTS COUNCIL “ON LOCATION” IN COLUMBIA…Throughout the
year, MAC goes “on location” to bring the state arts council to
local communities. On Tuesday, February 16, 1-4 p.m., they’ll be in
Columbia at the OCA. To schedule an appointment to talk about a grant
for your arts event/organization, or to access other technical
assistance, go to http://mac.checkappointments.com.
SMALL REQUEST FUNDING...the next deadline for Small Request funding is
March 10. Requests may be for up to $500 and are available only to arts
organizations with 501c3 status (though collaborations are allowed).
Contact us for the guidelines or go to www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Arts for
more information and the fillable application form.
CITY COMMEMORATIVE POSTER...Missouri artists are invited to submit
their art work for the city’s annual Commemorative Poster competition;
$1,000 honorarium. The postmark deadline is April 9. For the guidelines
and prospectus, go to www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Arts (look for the “artist
opportunity” link at the top of the page).
