Annual Arts Funding Application Review
Did your organization submit an arts funding application? If so,
consider attending the next meeting of the Commission on Cultural
Affairs, Monday, June 14, 5 p.m., in conference rooms 1A and 1B of City
Hall, 701 E. Broadway, when Commissioners will be reviewing the
applications. The meeting is open to the public and is an excellent
opportunity to become familiar with the process. Applicants are
encouraged to attend. While the minutes of the meeting will be available
after the fact, sitting in on the meeting will prove to be much more
informative as projects are implemented and ideas for future proposals
are formulated. The meeting is a long one...it will start at 5 p.m. and
may last several hours. Audience members may come and go, though it is
recommended that you bring drink, snack or carry-out for dinner if you
plan to stay long. The Commission will take few breaks and will work
though the dinner hour. Public comment does not occur at the meeting –
audience members are observers only so that no organization is allowed
to “testify” or lobby. The Commission’s July 12 meeting will
include an opportunity for organizations to make public comment (contact
us for specific location and time).
