The Commission on Cultural Affairs will meet on Monday, January 9, 2012,

OFFICE OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS UPDATES…

City Arts Funding Information
A workshop is not being held this year since no changes were made to
the application form or process. If you have questions about a program
idea or any aspect of the form or process, please contact the OCA to
meet in person with staff. Staff is also available to field email
inquiries or take phone calls. New applicants or those that have been
zero-funded in the past are strongly encouraged to submit a draft for
review by staff. Guidelines and the application form will be mailed out
by January 31 to those who have previously applied for city arts
funding. The information is available on the Office of Cultural Affairs'
web site as well, www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Arts.

Artist Opportunities
●	Traffic Box Art…Open to artists residing in mid-Missouri; $1,500
honorarium, plus materials fee; postmark deadline February 6. See

●	Public Art Opportunity: Short Street Parking Garage…Now
accepting applications from Missouri artists; $47,000 honorarium.

●	Commemorative Poster…Open to artists residing in the state of
Missouri; $1,000 honorarium; postmark deadline March 23. Application

Be an Arts Advocate!
Join arts enthusiasts from around the state for the annual “Citizens
for the Arts Day at the Legislature” on Wednesday, February 8, in
Jefferson City, and help advocate for state support of the arts.

New OCA Manager
Welcome to Chris Stevens as the new OCA manager. Chris brings to the
office a range of experience in the arts and business. He holds a
Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communications, with a minor in art
history, from the University of Missouri and was a fine arts appraiser. 
In addition to working 12 years with Boone County National Bank,
Stevens' rich history with the arts includes previous service on the
city's Cultural Affairs Commission, the Standing Committee for Public
Art, the Missouri Arts Council's Community Arts Panel and as treasurer
for Ragtag Film and the True/False Film Festival.
