*The Commission on Cultural Affairs will not meet in August...***
The Commission is taking a month off for summer vacation…their regular
monthly meetings will start up again on September 9, at 4:15 p.m. in the
community room of the Walton Building, 300 South Providence Road.
Commission meetings are always open to the public.

*Annual Arts Funding Process Update...***
The Commission’s work on our annual arts funding process will be presented
to City Council for their consideration on Monday, August 19 as part of a
public hearing on the city’s upcoming budget. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.
and is in the Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall, 701 E.
Broadway. The presentation will include an opportunity for public comment.
Applicants are not required to attend but may do so, as it is an open
meeting. Final approval of the funding recommendations will not occur until
late September. If council approves the funding recommendations, contracts
will be authorized after October 1 and then sent to funded agencies.
*Small Request Funding Reminder & FYIs ***
The next deadline for Small Request applications is September 10. Proposed
events/activities must take place after October 1, and preferably after
October 14 when the Commission will consider applications received by the
