*Commemorative Poster Unveiled*
Congratulations go to Jerry Brown whose pastel titled *Winter Sunset** *has
been unveiled as the 2013 Columbia Commemorative Poster. The work was
selected from 137 images submitted by 24 Missouri artists through a jury
process. Brown was born and raised in Kirksville. He enrolled in college in
1964, took several art classes, enjoyed them and decided to earn a degree
in Art Education. After two years in the Army he earned a Masters Degree in
Studio Art from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Jerry taught high
school art and worked as a watercolor artist for 30 years before moving to
pastels. Brown’s work was inspired by a dramatic evening sky in late winter
