Columbia Imagined - Community Involvement Kit Training
Tuesday, August 9, 2011 – 5:30 p.m. Approximate training – 1 ½ hours
ARC – 1701 West Ash Street
The Comprehensive Plan Task Force will hold a training session on how
to use the Community Involvement Kit for those who may be interested in
facilitating discussions with their community groups and organizations
about the comprehensive land use planning process. This training
opportunity will provide you with all the resources you need to
facilitate your own meeting about the comprehensive planning process
underway in Columbia. This is the first of several community
involvement kits that will be developed for engaging with friends,
neighbors and colleagues around the development of the comprehensive
plan. This one will focus on helping people understand the planning
process and eliciting their feedback regarding how the task force will
engage the community in the plan development. As the comprehensive
planning process moves forward, several phases of the process will have
these types of kits available.
Facilitating a forum using the community involvement kit is a way for
members of the community to stay engaged and involved in the process.
This is your opportunity, as a citizen, to learn how your organization
or neighborhood can provide direct input into the comprehensive planning
process; share your ideas and concerns on the process and give feedback.
The training session will provide the information and tools needed to
hold local meetings on the plan. Training instructors include members of
the Comprehensive Plan Task Force, consultants from the University of
Missouri Extension Community Development Program, City of Columbia
Planning Department, and the City of Columbia Planning and Zoning
Commission. For more information contact the Planning Department at
573-874-7239 or by e-mail at planning at gocolumbiamo.com.
