At the November 22, 2010 Council work session, Columbia Water & Light was directed to evaluate alternative transmission line routes now known as Option B. The first 161 kilovolt routes that were developed are now being called Option A. The intent of the alternatives in the Option B route study is to use more 69 kilovolt lines and run a 161 kilovolt line along the southwestern periphery of the city limits.
 
Unless otherwise directed by the City Council, Columbia Water & Light will hold an open house meeting late this summer or early fall. This will give the public a chance to ask questions and submit written comments about Option B. These comments will be tabulated and used for the evaluation matrix of the proposed routes. Once Option B is completed, a report will go to Council. If Council agrees, a final open house and then a public hearing could be held.
