Boards and commissions applications are available
(COLUMBIA, MO) -- The Columbia city clerk is accepting
applications for boards and commissions. Applications must be received
by the clerk's office, 701 E. Broadway, 4th Floor, by noon on Friday,
May 7, 2004. Applications are available at the clerk's office or may
be found on the city's Web site at www.GoColumbiaMo.com on the City
Council page. The following are current boards and commissions
openings:
The Board of Health has one vacancy with the term to expire Aug. 31,
2005. The member must be a dentist, as well as a registered voter of the
city. Monthly meetings are called by the board.
The Board of Plumbing Examiners has two vacancies with terms to expire
May 31, 2006. One member must be a journeyman and one must be a
layperson. Both must be registered voters. The members will sit on the
Board of Plumbing Examiners. Monthly meetings are the last Tuesday of
the month at 5 p.m.
The Energy and Environment Commission has two vacancies with the terms
to expire June 1, 2007. Members must be residents of the city, as well
as registered voters. They should have knowledge in matters pertaining
to environmental protection. Monthly meetings are the fourth Tuesday at
7 p.m.
The Health Insurance Appeals Board has one vacancy with the term to
expire Feb. 16, 2007. The member must have substantive professional
experience in benefits administration for a large organization.
The Housing Authority Board of Directors has two vacancies with terms
to expire May 31, 2008. One shall have resided in the city for five
years immediately prior to appointment and shall be a tax payer. The
other shall be a resident of Housing Authority property. Members are
appointed by the mayor.
The Liquor License Review Board has one vacancy with the term to expire
May 1, 2007. Members are responsible for hearing license denial appeals.
Meetings are on call.
The Parks & Recreation Commission has two vacancies with terms to
expire May 31, 2007. One member must be a registered voter of Ward 2.
The other must be a registered voter of Ward 3. Monthly meetings are the
third Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Planning & Zoning Commission has three vacancies with two terms to
expire May 31, 2009 and one term to expire May 31, 2005. Members must be
registered voters and residents of the city at least one year
immediately prior to appointment and shall hold no other office or
position in city government. Meetings are Thursdays following City
Council Monday meetings at 7 p.m.
The Substance Abuse Advisory Commission has one vacancy with the term
to expire Oct. 31, 2005. The member must have demonstrated an interest
in and concern for substance and alcohol abuse problems in the
community.
