Temporary closure of Hitt Street between Broadway and Cherry Street
  									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia Public Works Department announced today that beginning Monday, Dec. 13, at 8:30 a.m., Central Missouri Plumbing, the contractor working for Downtown Appliance, will begin construction of a water main tap and fire service line. This work will result in the temporary closure of Hitt Street between Broadway and Cherry Street.
	A detour route will be marked as follows: 
*	Southbound Hitt Street traffic should proceed to Tenth Street and turn south. Continue on Tenth Street to Cherry Street. Turn east on Cherry and continue to Hitt Street.
*	Northbound Hitt Street traffic should turn west on Cherry Street and proceed to Tenth Street. Turn north on Tenth Street and continue to Broadway.
	The work should be completed, weather permitting, and the street should be reopened Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the construction area and use an alternate route whenever possible.
