Bike, Walk & Wheel Week is drawing near
(COLUMBIA, MO) - It's time to sign up for the 4th Annual Mayor's Challenge: Bike, Walk & Wheel Week scheduled for May 7-14. Bike, Walk & Wheel Week is an opportunity to build physical activity into daily routines and to identify safety issues that need to be addressed to make Columbia a walkable, bikeable, wheelchair-friendly city.
Events for the week include:
* Friday, May 6 - Celebrity Bike/Car Challenge-Information available soon at www.pednet.org
* Saturday, May 7, 2 p.m.- Kickoff Event and MKT Trail Bike/Walk-Flat Branch Park
* Sunday, May 8, 2 p.m. - Cycle-Recycle-the Intersection
* Monday, May 9, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. - Skate Party-Empire Roller Rink
* Tuesday, May 10, 5:30 p.m. - Mayor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health Fitness Forum-the ARC
* Wednesday, May 11, 12 p.m. - Women's Adventure Series presented by Women's Intersport Network of Columbia-Pasta Factory
* Thursday, May 12, 5:30 p.m. - PedNet's Scavenger Hunt-Grill One 5
* Friday, May 13, 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. - Breakfast Station Day throughout Columbia-map available soon at www.pednet.org
* Saturday, May 14, 2 p.m. -Closing Event-Flat Branch Park
Finally, don't forget-during this week only, "Your Bike is Your Ticket!" Individuals can utilize the bike racks on Columbia Transit buses (space available only, you cannot take your bike on the bus) and ride for free to any destination on the city bus routes.
