Celebrity Bike/Car Challenge-A warm-up for Bike, Walk and Wheel Week
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The first ever celebrity bike/car challenge
will be held Friday, May 6, as a warm-up for the 4th Annual Bike, Walk
and Wheel Week. The challenge is to see who will complete their list of
errands first-those on bikes or those in vehicles.
Confirmed celebrities are KMIZ's Michelle Linn pitted against
Mayor Darwin Hindman and KMIZ's Jeff Huffman versus his co-worker
Bridget Blevins. Other celebrities are being confirmed.
This event will begin and end at the Alpine Shop in downtown
Columbia-corner of Hitt and Broadway-beginning at 11 a.m.
Guidelines for the celebrities include:
* Each pair will consist of one person on a bike and one person in
a vehicle.
* All contestants will begin at the same time.
* Those driving the vehicles must park legally and turn off
ignitions. They must also get out of their cars to pick up the tokens at
each establishment.
* Bikers must follow the rules of the road, wear helmets, avoid
riding on sidewalks downtown and lock up their bikes before entering
each establishment.
* Celebrities may visit each establishment in the order they wish.

* DSport-1034 East Walnut
* Columbia Daily Tribune-101 North 4th Street (Circulation Desk)
