Columbia Fire and Police Departments team up with Mavericks to assist
George W Peak Memorial Burn Center and Columbia Police Foundation

COLUMBIA, MO (August 22, 2005) -- The Columbia Fire Department and
Columbia Police Department are teaming up with the Mid-Missouri
Mavericks to sponsor Community Night on Monday, Aug. 29, at Taylor
Stadium. The game starts at 6:05 p.m. and all gate proceeds will go to
the Columbia Fire and Police Departments charity of choice. 

The Columbia Fire Department will donate proceeds to the George Peak
Memorial Burn Center at University Hospitals. The burn center is one of
only four in the state of Missouri and provides valuable life saving
treatment to burn victims from across central Missouri. Columbia
firefighters have a long-standing relationship with the Peak Burn
Center, each year sponsoring a spring golf tournament to raise funds for
equipment that was not able to be purchased through normal budgeting
operations. 

Columbia firefighters will have fire trucks on hand as well as "Patches
and Pumper" prior to and during the game. In addition, the award winning
Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard will post the colors during the
pre-game show. 

Columbia firefighters urge mid-Missourians to come out to one of the
final home games of the 2005 Mid-Missouri Mavericks season to cheer on
the Mavs and to support the George Peak Memorial Burn Center.
