'R A C E - The Power of an Illusion'
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The public is invited to view and discuss the
video "Race - The Power of an Illusion." This video challenges one
of the most fundamental beliefs - that human beings come divided into a
few distinct groups. It will be followed by an opportunity for candid,
provocative dialogue with fellow citizens on the impact of race. This
month's Community Circle will be on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 6 p.m. to
8:45 p.m. in the Columbia Public Library Friends Room.
"LET'S TALK, COLUMBIA!" monthly Community Circles are
free, ongoing events that are open to the public and sponsored by the
Columbia Human Rights Commission. Previous or regular attendance is not
required. Light refreshments are provided. Bring a snack to share if you
are able. Come with an open mind to listen and learn, and a willingness
to participate on some level with other community members.
Call (573) 874-7488 (V/TTY) or e-mail HRC at GoColumbiaMo.com for
more information, transportation assistance or disability
accommodations. Visit us on the Web at www.GoColumbiaMo.com (GoWord:
GoStudyCircles). Watch for upcoming Community Circles: Monday, Sept. 26,
and Thursday, Oct. 20.
