Bike, Walk & Wheel Week planning underway

	(COLUMBIA, MO) - Mark your calendars for May 7-14. Planning for the 4th Annual Mayor's Challenge: Bike, Walk & Wheel Week (BWWW) is well underway! Participation in this annual weeklong event has grown each year, from approximately 750 in 2002 to approximately 1,400 in 2004. This year should be no exception to the growing participation as there are events planned for every day of the week.
	Events for the week include:
	*	Friday, May 6 - A fun, exciting, surprise event featuring local celebrities-
		details forthcoming in the near future!
	*	Saturday, May 7- Kickoff at Flat Branch Park and MKT Trail bicycle
		ride/hike
	*	Sunday, May 8 - Cycle-Recycle at the Intersection
	*	Monday, May 9 - Skate Party at Empire Roller Rink
	*	Tuesday, May 10 - Mayor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health
		Fitness Forum at the ARC
	*	Wednesday, May 11 - Women's Adventure Series presented by W.I.N.
		(Women's Intersport Network of Columbia)
	*	Thursday, May 12 - PedNet's Downtown Scavenger Hunt
	*	Friday, May 13 - Breakfast Station Day
	*	Saturday, May 14 - morning: Columbia Bike Club's Poker Ride starting
		at the Boone County Fairgrounds and afternoon: Final Celebration for
		BWWW held at Flat Branch Park
	*	Finally, don't forget-during this week only, "Your Bike is Your Ticket!"
		Individuals utilizing the bike racks on Columbia Transit buses ride for free
		to any destination on the city bus routes (space available only, there is a
		maximum of two bikes per bus).
	Bike, Walk, Wheel Week is an opportunity to build physical activity into daily routines, and to identify safety issues that need to be addressed to make Columbia a walkable, bikeable, wheelchair-friendly city.
	Please check PedNet's Web site at www.pednet.org for specific times of the events and for more information as we get closer to the time.
