Boards and commissions applications are available
									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia city clerk is accepting
applications for boards and commissions. Applications must be received
by the clerk's office, 701 E. Broadway, 4th Floor, by noon on Friday,
Feb. 4. Applications are available at the clerk's office or may be
found on the city's Web site at www.GoColumbiaMo.com on the City
Council page. The following are current boards and commissions
openings:

The C.A.R.E. Advisory Board has two vacancies with terms to expire
March 1, 2008. One member must be an employer who has previously
employed C.A.R.E. trainees and both members must have an interest in the
promotion of the program to current and prospective employers in
Columbia and Boone County.

The Community Development Commission has one vacancy with the term to
expire Nov. 1, 2007. The member may be from any ward and must be a
registered voter. Commission members shall not serve on the board of
directors or be employed by any agency which applies for funding through
the commission or which receives funding upon recommendation of the
commission. 

The Board of Health has one vacancy with the term to expire Aug. 31,
2005. The member must be a dentist, as well as a registered voter of the
city. Monthly meetings are called by the board.

The Human Rights Commission has three vacancies with terms to expire
March 1, 2008. Members must have demonstrated a strong commitment to
human rights and the belief in the principles of equal opportunity
embodied in the ordinance. The commission advises the City Council on
human rights issues and reviews and makes decisions regarding complaints
of discrimination filed with the city of Columbia. Monthly meetings are
the fourth Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Sustainable Farms Board of Directors has one vacancy with the term to
expire Dec. 31, 2007. Members are responsible for overseeing the future
construction, maintenance and operations of a farmers market community
center. Sustainable Farms & Communities Inc. is a Missouri
not-for-profit corporation.

The University Extension Council of Boone County has one vacancy with
the term to expire March 1, 2007. The member must be a resident of the
city. The University Extension Council is responsible for assisting in
development of educational programs and works with the County Commission
to develop the county's share of the costs of extension programs and
the administration of those funds.
