City seeks input on capital projects for parks, public safety and
transportation

COLUMBIA, MO (July 1, 2005) -- The city of Columbia will give residents
two opportunities to provide input on capital needs for parks, public
safety and transportation. Staff members from city administration, the
Fire Department, Parks and Recreation, Police Department, Public Safety
Joint Communications and Public Works will be available to share
information about projects that have already been identified and to
answer questions. The format will allow citizens to visit one-on-one
with staff members, who will set up several information stations. Fact
sheets will be available.

The purpose of the public input sessions is to assist the city as it
begins to prioritize community needs prior to the City Council
finalizing an ordinance to be placed on the November ballot to finance
the future capital needs of the city. The City Council anticipates
holding public hearings on Aug. 1 and Aug. 15 that will provide
additional opportunities for public input.

The public input sessions are scheduled as follows:

Wednesday, July 13: 4:30 - 7:30 p.m., Shepard Elementary School Gym

Thursday, July 14: 4:30 - 7:30 p.m., Smithton Middle School Cafetorium

For information, contact Robert Ross, Public Communications, at
874-7220.
