Water Use Alert lifted

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia Water and Light has lifted the Water
Use Alert after the water pumping rates lowered on Tuesday, July 26, to
17.5 million gallons for the day. There are no water use restrictions at
this time. Weather forecasters are not predicting rain over the next
week so the utility might have to ask for conservation efforts again
soon.
Director of Columbia Water and Light, Dan Dasho, says, "We
want to thank Columbians for their water conservation efforts over the
last week. We saw a drop in the water use rate once we called for help.
We are thinking that the small amount of rain and cooler temperatures
are going to drop our pumping rate but the situation could change
quickly if we had an emergency. If people could still help us conserve,
we would appreciate it."
Columbia Water and Light customers are urged to irrigate only
when needed and fix any water leaks they have inside their house. Free
energy and water audits are available to utility customers by signing up
online at www.GoColumbiaMo.com or by calling 874-7325. A Columbia Water
and Light staff member will review customers' accounts and visit their
homes to provide customized conservation solutions.
Columbia Water and Light pumped a record 23.69 million gallons
of water to the distribution system on Wednesday, July 20, and has been
pumping around 21 million gallons of water after the conservation
requests were made by the utility. The water pumping rate on Tuesday,
July 26, dropped to 17.5 million gallons when cooler temperatures and
rain arrived in Columbia.
