Multiple Agency Resource Center (MARC) continues for Gulf Coast evacuees
 
COLUMBIA, MO (October 19, 2005) -- The Multiple Agency Resource Center (M.A.R.C.), designed to provide services to individuals and families who continue to have unmet needs, opened Friday, Oct. 14, at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) located at 1701 West Ash Street. The M.A.R.C. was successful, serving 17 groups of individuals needing assistance. The M.A.R.C. will continue to be open on Friday at the ARC, Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

The M.A.R.C. is a conglomerate of service-oriented agencies under one roof which will continue to address services including; housing, food, health and mental health services, schooling options, financial issues and other long-term relocation issues, to individuals and families with unmet needs which have relocated to the area from the Gulf States. The primary need has been identified as long-term housing and groups will be on site to help provide these needs.

Those individuals or families which have successfully relocated and have no further unmet needs would not benefit by attending this event. 

Agencies that have either committed to attending or have been invited to attend include:

* The American Red Cross
* The Salvation Army
* The Columbia/Boone County Health Department
* The USDA Rural Development Corporation
* The Central Missouri Human Development Corporation
* The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services
* The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (H.U.D.)
* The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
* The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA)
* The Columbia Public Schools
* The Voluntary Action Center (VAC)
