Festival-goers can explore 'Giant Art Mazes'

COLUMBIA, MO (September 13, 2005) -- The fourteenth annual Columbia
Festival of the Arts will feature two free Giant Art Mazes, one with
music as its theme, the other focusing on visual art. The Mazes, each
measuring 1,000 square feet, are interactive.

The Great Art Hunt leads explorers on a search for 16 different famous
works of art while highlighting the difference between portraits,
landscapes, waterscapes and still life paintings. Hidden in the Musical
Maze are a giant gong, brass bell, maracas, bongos, hand cymbals,
tambourines, a triangle and more. Visitors can play individually or in a
group to experience the sound and feel of real instruments.

The Giant Art Mazes will be located in the Children's Art Area on Ash
Street, between Seventh and Ninth Streets. Both mazes are sponsored by
CenturyTel and the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau's Tourism
Development Fund.

The Festival is free and open to the public. It will be held at the
Boone County Courthouse Square and surrounding streets in downtown
Columbia on Sept. 24-25. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both
days.

For more information, including a map and stage schedules, consult the
special Festival insert in the Columbia Daily Tribune's Sept. 22 issue
or contact the Office of Cultural Affairs at (573) 874-6386, e-mail
