New public information specialist for Public Works

COLUMBIA, MO (December 13, 2006) -- City of Columbia Public Works Department Director John Glascock today announced that Jill Stedem has accepted the position of public information specialist for the department. 
Ms. Stedem was previously employed as executive director of the Columbia Art League.

“I am confident Ms. Stedem’s past experience with the challenge of marketing a not-for-profit organization and all the contacts she has made in the greater Columbia community will prove to be valuable assets to Public Works and the city of Columbia,” said Glascock. “My goal is to get useful information out in a timely manner about the department’s services at the airport, recycling and solid waste, stormwater issues and Columbia Transit, as well as many other Public Works’ projects of interest to the public.”

Ms. Stedem earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Columbia College with emphasis on marketing and management. She is a member of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Women’s Network.

Ms. Stedem’s starting salary will be $42,000 per year. She will begin her new duties on Monday, Dec. 18.
