Late afternoon fire damages southwest Columbia home

COLUMBIA, MO (February 6, 2006) -- Columbia firefighters responded to a
report of a fire at 3000 Woodbine at 4:19 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5. Upon
arrival, firefighters discovered fire and smoke pouring from the
northwest corner of the roof of the home.

Columbia firefighters were able to extinguish the fire but not before
light to moderate damage occurred to the shake shingle roof of the home.


The owners of the residence were home and the time of the fire and
neither was injured. The home is owned and occupied by Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Maier One firefighter was treated on the scene after complaining
of dizziness. The firefighter was checked on the scene by paramedics
from University Hospitals and he returned to duty. 

Fire investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause and
origin of the fire. That information was not available at the time of
this release. No damage estimate was available either.
