Shingle Recovery Project
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia Sanitary Landfill announces a new
recycling opportunity for the city, the Shingle Recovery Project.
On June 20, the Columbia Sanitary Landfill began recycling clean
loads of shingles. During the first eight days of this project, over
1,200 tons of the 1,760 tons of shingles brought to the landfill were
recovered.
Paper, plastic, pallets and trash should be kept out of the
loads to ensure the shingles are recyclable. Contractors are encouraged
to separate their trash and keep it on top so it can easily be separated
from the load. Clean loads of shingles will be directed to a designated
area at the landfill for recovery.
For more information, contact the city of Columbias Solid
Waste Division at 874-6291.
