(COLUMBIA, MO) - The development and use of renewable energy
technologies throughout the state and the Midwest is quickly changing.
Utility staff, policy makers and interested citizens are gathering in
Columbia, Mo., on March 29 to explore a wide variety of topics in the
renewable energy market: wind, biomass, solar, renewable energy-related
tax incentives and energy efficiency. The one-day conference is
sponsored by Columbia Water & Light, the University of Missouri and the
Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Event sponsors have invited a host of speakers and panelists
from across the country, including keynote speaker Dr. Stanley Bull, the
associate director for science and technology at the National Renewable
Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colo. Funded by the Department of
Energy, NREL is the nation's leading center for renewable energy
research.
Other topics covered in depth will be Missouri's first
significant commercial wind energy project, buildings that produce more
energy than they consume, biomass fuels and federal tax incentives for
energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Vendors of renewable
energy products will also have informational display booths. The
exhibition hall is free and open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
For more information about this event, including an agenda for
