Columbia Fire Department concludes Basic Recruit School Class:
graduation ceremony to be held for 14 recruits
COLUMBIA, MO (May 24, 2006) -- The Columbia Fire Department is proud to
announce the graduation ceremony for Basic Recruit School 2006-1 will be
held on Wednesday, May 24, at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 701 East
Broadway.
Six recruit firefighters for the Columbia Fire Department, seven for
the Jefferson City Fire Department and one for the Sedalia Fire
Department will have completed the 11-week course. During their
training, the recruits have experienced both classroom and actual
hands-on job training to prepare them for their future careers. Columbia
Fire Department graduates will be placed into the shift rotation and
assigned to a field training officer for guidance and evaluation over
the next 18 months.
Graduating on May 24 are:
Columbia Fire Department: Ben Caszatt, Brian Davison, Mark Jenkins,
Lester Shewmake, Danny Spry Jr. and Ben Truetken
Jefferson City Fire Department: William Bolden, Jacob Holee, Chad
James, Scott Kempker, Joel Swader, Mark VanBerschot and Michael Vaught
Sedalia Fire Department:
Ryan Brinkman
The public is cordially invited to the event. The Columbia Fire
Department Honor Guard will present the colors followed by opening
remarks from City Manager Bill Watkins and Fire Chief William Markgraf.
Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
