Shoot free throws for a free turkey!

COLUMBIA, MO (November 1, 2006) -- Columbia Parks and Recreation’s annual “Fowl Shooting” Contest will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Armory Sports Center. The basketball free throw shooting contest is designed for all ages, and will be held from 9-11 a.m. 

Winners in each age category will receive a certificate redeemable for a free turkey at a local supermarket. Age categories are: kindergarten-1st grade, 2nd-3rd grade, 4th-5th grade, 6th-8th grade, 9th-12th grade and adults. 

Everyone is welcome to enter the contest; no pre-registration is required. Registration fee is $1 per 10 free throw shots, plus one can of food. Participants may pay an extra $1 for as many sets of shots as time allows. Canned goods that are collected will be donated to area food pantries.
