City Public Communications Department names new city channel coordinator

COLUMBIA, MO (October 31, 2006) -- City Public Communications Director Toni Messina today announced the promotion of Don Cizek to the position of city channel coordinator, effective Nov. 6. Cizek will be paid an annual salary of $46,404 and will oversee all administrative, creative and programming services at the Columbia Channel, the csity’s cable television outlet for information on local government services and activities.

With seven years’ experience at the Columbia Channel, Cizek’s work in set design, production and graphic animation has been recognized by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors and by the Telly Awards. His private sector experience includes 20 years in audio production and management of his own business.

Messina said that Cizek was chosen from a field of 29 applicants. “We advertised widely and were very pleased with our field. Don’s experience and skills, however, really set him apart. He will help us improve city communications across the board.”

Cizek replaces Constance Kacprowicz, who has assumed full-time public information duties for the Columbia Water and Light Department. The Columbia Channel airs on Mediacom channel 13 and on Charter Communications channel 2.
