Register for local U.S. Junior Olympic Skills Competition

COLUMBIA, MO (April 16, 2007) -- Local youngsters between ages 8 and 13
have the opportunity to participate in the U.S. Junior Olympic Skills
Competition with the chance to win a trip to the USA Olympic Team
training facility. This free program, sponsored by Columbia Parks and
Recreation, allows boys and girls, competing separately, the opportunity
to showcase their athletic abilities. 

The basketball qualifying portion of the Jr. Olympic Skills will be
held on Saturday, April 28, at the Armory Sports Center, 701 East Ash.
Check in is at 9 a.m. with the event starting at 10 a.m.

The track & field, soccer and tennis qualifying portions of the Jr.
Olympic Skills will be held on Sunday, April 29, at the Hickman High
School track. Participants may check in at 2 p.m. with the events
starting at 3 p.m.

Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation office at
1 S. Seventh St., the Armory Sports Center at 701 East Ash and the
Activity and Recreation Center (ARC) at 1701 West Ash. All registrations
need to be turned in to the Parks and Recreation office.

A birth certificate or baptismal record is required for registration.
