New look and improved features coming to city of Columbia Web site
COLUMBIA, MO (April 17, 2007) -- The city of Columbia began launching
its new Web site on April 16. This is the first major redesign to the
city’s Web site in five years. In addition to extensive visual
changes, www.GoColumbiaMo.com will have several new and improved
features including:
* Faster page load times
* Improved search feature
* Easier to use navigation menu
* Improved accessibility for visitors with disabilities
* Better access to most requested information and department pages
* Print-friendly links on every page
* Addition of home page sections that highlight new information or
emphasize
special items of interest.
* Easier access to primary communication channels including, Columbia
Channel videos, Community Line directory, Web Mail and newsletters

No significant down time is expected during the launch, but some
sections may take a few days to transfer fully. During this time, users
may experience short Web service outages or temporary “page
unavailable” messages.

Sam Shelby, the city’s E-Government coordinator, says, “Every
effort is being made to keep disruptions to a minimum as we launch this
new and vastly improved Web site.”
