Community Circle: ‘Unlawful Discrimination’
Rights and Responsibilities in Columbia

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Are you aware of the local city ordinance that
makes it unlawful to discriminate in employment, housing and public
accommodation? Employers, landlords and businesses have a
responsibility to uphold this city requirement, and citizens have a
right to file a complaint when there is alleged discrimination based on
these protected categories - race, national origin, color, ancestry,
age, religion, disability, gender, material status, familial status and
sexual orientation.
To help the public understand, human rights and legal staff of
the city will present a program "Unlawful Discrimination - Rights and
Responsibilities." This free event will be at the Columbia Public
Library Friends Room on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 6 p.m. Come learn
more!
Contact Nanette Ward at the Human Rights Commission at (573)
874-7488 or HRC at GoColumbiaMo.com for more information. Visit us on the
Web at www.GoColumbiaMo.com (Go Word: gostudycircles).
