Fred and Simon honorary chairs of 2007 Bike, Walk & Wheel Week

COLUMBIA, MO (February 8, 2007) -- Planning is underway for Bike, Walk & Wheel Week (BWWW) to be celebrated May 12-19, 2007. The planning committee is very excited that KFRU’s Fred Parry and Simon Rose have agreed to serve as the honorary chairpersons of this year’s events.

Parry and Rose, the co-hosts of the popular “The Morning Meeting” show on KFRU, will continue their alliance in promoting the benefits of BWWW.

“This week brings together the entire community behind such a fun and active program. Evidence of this comes when you consider that I rarely agree with my co-chair for the week. Yet when it comes to recognizing what this event does for the community, the two of us are on the same page. Heck, he may even leave the SUV at home and bike to work a few mornings that week with me!,” Rose said.

Parry added, “Riding our bikes is a great activity for my family, and my two sons are enthusiastic participants in the Walking School Bus program at Grant Elementary. I’m hoping that a lot of families will choose to participate in this year’s events.”

Bike, Walk & Wheel Week is an opportunity to build physical activity into daily routines, and to identify safety issues that need to be addressed to make Columbia a walkable, bikeable, wheelchair-friendly city.

A schedule of events will be released in the coming weeks. For more information on sponsorship of BWWW, or to volunteer for the week, contact Janet Godon at (573) 447-4775 or by email at Jkgodon at cs.com.
