Start construction of Business Loop 70 Sidewalk Project
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department is announcing the
beginning of construction of the Business Loop 70 Sidewalk Project. This
project is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 8, weather permitting. There
will be lane restrictions in the work zone. The city of Columbia Water
and Light Department will also be working in conjunction with this
project to remove overhead electric lines and installing underground
lines.
Aplex Inc. of Linn, Mo., was the successful bidder on the
project in the amount of $177,449.50. This project will consist of the
construction of a 6-foot wide sidewalk from Creasy Springs Road to the
existing sidewalk along the frontage of Ellis Fischel Hospital. Funding
for this project is from the Federal Surface and Transportation
Enhancement Funds and the adjacent property owners.
It is anticipated that construction will be completed in spring
2007, weather permitting. Care should be exercised in the construction
area and alternate routes should be used.
