Linemen help with Springfield restoration efforts

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Eight Columbia Water and Light linemen headed to Springfield, Mo., today to help restore power after the winter storm downed power lines last week. Both Springfield and Columbia are members of the Missouri Public Utility Alliance which coordinates a mutual aid program to help utilities during widespread outages. Springfield City Utilities reported today in an e-mail that there were 12,300 customers without electricity. Columbia crews will remain in Springfield for as long as they are needed. Columbia Water and Light crews assisted other Missouri utilities last week. They spent one day in Sullivan, two days in Crane and two days in Waynesville.
