Columbia Visioning groups release subtopic goals and strategies to
prepare for the 'Exploring the Vision' Workshop
COLUMBIA, MO (March 30, 2007) -- Columbia Citizen Topic Groups will
present a preliminary vision plan to the community-at-large at the
"Exploring the Vision" Workshop on April 4, from 6 - 8 p.m., in the
Kimball Ballroom at Lela Raney Wood Hall, Stephens College at 6 North
College Avenue.
Thirteen Citizen Topic Groups have released their preliminary goals and
strategies for a broad range of community issues. The public will rate
these goals and strategies and provide valuable feedback, which will be
used by the topic groups as they refine their work throughout the
summer.
An overview of the April 4 Workshop, including all subtopic goals and
strategies, is available in an online press kit on the city of
Columbia’s Web site at
www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Public_Comm/Visioning/documents/VisionPressKit.pdf.
The information is also available as a Word document. A printed version
of the media kit will be available by noon, Tuesday, April 3. Please
contact Renee Graham at 573-874-7316 to request a copy.
Vision Committee Co-Chairs M. Dianne Drainer and Jeffrey Williams
explain that Citizen Topic Groups are eager to share the emerging
vision. According to Williams, “volunteers from a cross-section of the
community have worked hard to translate 1,500 big ideas collected at
public meetings into a roadmap for Columbia’s future.” Drainer says,
“The workshop on April 4 is everyone’s chance to tell us if we are
on the right track.” The final vision is scheduled for public review
in late summer 2007.
