Sixth Annual Mayor’s Challenge: Bike, Walk & Wheel Week kicks
off
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Join Mayor Darwin Hindman and honorary cochairs
Simon Rose and Fred Parry on Saturday, May 12, at 1:30 p.m. at Flat
Branch Park to kick off the 6th Annual Mayor’s Challenge: Bike, Walk &
Wheel Week (BWWW).
Schedule for the day:
1:30 p.m. - Registration for BWWW, pick up your free T-shirt
(while supplies last) and check out booths sponsored by local
businesses/agencies, including:
● Boone Hospital Center - Kids on Track
● Columbia Bike Club - bike adjustments
● HyVee - healthy snacks
● Klunks - vintage bicycles
● Columbia/Boone County Health Department - blood pressure
screening
● Columbia Public Works - Float Your Boat nature activity
● PedNet Coalition
2:30 p.m. - Comments by Mayor Darwin Hindman, Simon Rose, Fred
Parry, and Ted Curtis, PedNet project manager; city of Columbia will
also present a dedication ceremony of the MKT Trail Providence and
Stewart Underpass
3:00 p.m. - Group Trail Ride & Walk on the Wild Side: Stop on
the bridges of the MKT Trail for Flat Branch Fun Facts provided by city
of Columbia Public Works. Learn the history, ecology and nature facts
of Flat Branch Creek: How clean is it? What creatures live in and around
it?
