Public invited to Council work session on utility rate study
COLUMBIA, MO (May 25, 2007) - 

When: Wednesday, May 30, 2007 starting at 6 p.m.

Where: City Council Chamber, 4th floor, Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.
Broadway
What: Virchow Krause & Company, the consultant retained to review city
electric, water and wastewater rates, will explain the rate study
process and objectives

Background:
● The city periodically conducts internal cost studies but has not
contracted for an independent study in recent history.
● The work session is the first opportunity for the Council and
citizens to learn about the process, ask questions and provide input.
● The study should be complete by July 1, 2007. Deliverables include
revenue requirement and cost-of-service study for water, electric and
wastewater utilities; revenue requirements and cash flow projections for
each utility; findings and recommendations for extending services to new
customers; reports to the City Council and the Water and Light Advisory
Board.
